September 2007 Loudoun Chapter endorses Candidates for Loudoun County Sheriff, VA State Senate and VA House of Delegates

 


On September 22, 2007 the Political Screening Committee for the Loudoun Chapter conducted screenings for candidates seeking election to the Office of the Sheriff for Loudoun County, the VA State Senate and VA House of Delegates.  The screening questions for the Office of the Sheriff covered the following issues; post election job security, the Law Enforcement Procedural Guarantee Act, meet and confer, the grievance procedure and the promotional process.  The screening questions for the VA State Senate and the VA House of Delegates covered the following issues; increasing the retirement multiplier for law enforcement officers, lowering the retirement age, overtime compensation, changing the definition of a law enforcement officer, law enforcement officer representation during internal investigations and collective bargaining.  After completing the screening the Committee, based on the candidate’s responses to the screening questions, provided the Chapter Board of Directors with their recommendations for endorsement.  After careful review the Chapter Board of Directors voted to endorse the following candidates.

Michael E. George Office of the Sheriff Loudoun County

Jill Holtzman Vogel Virginia Senate 27th District

Mark R. Herring Virginia Senate 33rd District

Bruce Roemmelt Virginia House of Delegates 13th District

David E. Poisson Virginia House of Delegates 32nd District

Fernando “Marty” Martinez Virginia House of Delegates 33rd District

Tom Rust Virginia House of Delegates 86th District

The Board chose to issue no endorsement in the Virginia House of Delegates 67th District. 

 

Everyone is encouraged to get out and vote for the individuals that will best represent the issues of the Loudoun Chapter of the VA PBA.  Don’t forget to tell your family and friends to do the same.
