The VAPBA Holds Candidate Screenings

On September 19 the Virginia Division of the Southern States Police Benevolent Association held its annual meeting in Charlottesville and conducted a screening for the office of Governor, Lt. Governor and Attorney General.

With chapter participation from across the state, Chilhowie to Virginia Beach, our thirteen representatives screened the candidates and voted to endorse th following candidates. Creigh Deeds for Governor, Bill Bolling for Lt Governor and Steven Shannon for Attorney General.

Only one candidate did not appear in person, Jody Wagner for Lt. Governor, and was represented by a staff member. Candidate for Governor Bob McDonnell was flown from Northern Virginia to Charlottesville so he could arrive at the screening in time for his appointment.

Before the endorsements were announced Candidates Bill Bolling and Steven Shannon contacted state leaders and thanked them for running a "professional, thoughtful and fair screening, unlike any they had previously attended."
