Endorses Candidates for Portsmouth Mayor and
Portsmouth City Council
 

 

(Portsmouth, VA – April 7, 2008) – On Wednesday, April 2, 2008, The Southeast Chapter of the Virginia Police Benevolent Association, Inc. held a candidate screening for Portsmouth Mayor and Portsmouth City Council.

The following are the candidates the screening committee recommended and the board of directors voted to endorse.

All decisions were based on candidate participation and responses to questions of the screening committee. The questions were issues important to all law enforcement officers to include Power of the Chief of Police to discipline his subordinates and manage his department, Police officer salary increases to that of the average Hampton Roads Police Officer, Portsmouth Sheriff’s Community Enforcement Unit, Adding the Federal Concealed Weapon Carry Law language on identification cards for retired Auxiliary Police Officers, Police Officer Procedural Guarantees, The purchase of Virginia State Retirement System time and Radio Communications.
